Solar power cars

Solar power as an alternative power resource is being put to several uses. The advancement in technology has made it possible to apply solar in applications other than domestic and commercial ones. Today, solar power is being used for powering vehicles. The reason for this is it is a renewable energy source which will be readily available forever. Solar power does not emit harmful substances into the atmosphere that may be hazardous for life on this planet. The use of solar power for running vehicles is also a viable option because it is cost effective and reliable. This alternative energy source also does not cause degradation of the environment.

For current and future use, the development of solar power cars is taking place. Solar power cars use a technology called quantum dots which is a form of nanotechnology. In this technology tiny solar robots are created that convert renewable solar energy into power that can run the vehicles.

The technology used for solar power cars is a combination of technologies used in aerospace, bicycle, alternative energy and automotive industry. Most of the solar cars developed till now have been used as solar race cars. Solar power cars have a seating capacity of one or two passengers. Other features like brakes, accelerator, rear view mirrors, turn signals and a radio for communication are also present in these cars. These cars use techniques like gauges or wireless telemetry that help one to know the amount of renewable solar energy captured, the amount of energy used and other information related to solar renewable energy.
